Care homes were managing daily logs, incident reports, staff rotas, and progress records across paper files, WhatsApp groups, and spreadsheets. Nothing was joined up, audit trails were unreliable, and managers had no real-time visibility.

We worked closely with care managers and frontline staff to understand their daily rhythms before designing anything — shift handovers, daily logs, young person profiles, and progress milestones drove every decision.

Managers were building rotas in spreadsheets, chasing staff by phone to fill gaps, and tracking leave through email threads. No single source of truth, overtime was hard to monitor, and staff had no reliable view of their shifts.

We designed Onshyft around two user types: managers who need control and visibility, and staff who need clarity. Every feature was mapped to a real daily frustration before a line of code was written.
